Air Quality Analysis Branch (AQAB)

Mission

Provide meteorological services and atmospheric dispersion modeling support to assist the Division of Air Quality in maintaining and improving air quality in North Carolina.

Reponsibilities

Review air quality analyses submitted in support of air permit applications to ensure the modeling is conducted in accordance with NC and Federal regulations and is consistent with NC modeling policy. At the discretion of the AQ Division director, the AQAB will conduct dispersion modeling analyses to determine the compliance status of emission sources in NC and, on a case-by-case basis, will also perform toxics modeling demonstrations for NC industry. Modeling and modeling review support is provided for PSD, NC toxics, National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), and Transportation Facilities.
