What are Electronic Authorizations?

The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NC-DMV) will no longer require stickers to be placed on the windshield of vehicles when the annual safety or emissions test is passed. Instead, NC-DMV will realign your vehicle's inspection renewal date to match your registration renewal date. Therefore, you will need a passed vehicle inspection (safety-only or emissions-safety depending on registered county and vehicle model year) prior to getting your registration renewed by NC-DMV.
